UAE Calls for Unified Effort to Fight Extremism

In a Wall Street Journal commentary, UAE Ambassador to the US Yousef Al Otaiba calls attention to the escalating threat of extremism and writes that the UAE “is ready to join a coordinated international response” to combat ISIS and other terrorist organizations.

Recently, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement calling for concerted regional and international efforts to address the “global scourge” of terrorism. Ambassador Al Otaiba also released a statement calling attention to the dangerous threat posed by Islamic extremism. Learn More >

UAE Embassy and FC Dallas Foundation Break Ground on New Community Soccer Field

The groundbreaking celebration of a new soccer field at Jubilee Park and Community Center in Dallas, Texas marked the first partnership between the FC Dallas Foundation and the UAE Embassy. City officials, FC Dallas soccer players and UAE officials joined local kids to kick off construction of the field, which will be finished and dedicated in October. It will be the sixth soccer field that the UAE Embassy has gifted to communities around the United States. Learn More >

UAE Innovation Challenge Winners Visit STEM Facilities in Southern California

Fujairah Dynamic, the winning team of the annual UAE Innovation Challenge, which is sponsored by Northrop Grumman, saw their hard work pay off with a week-long trip to Southern California. After months of mentoring by Northrop Grumman engineers, the students competed in a public flying competition, during which their projects were judged on both design and presentation. During their trip, Fujairah Dynamic toured STEM facilities in the area, including a Northrop Grumman site, in order to learn more about robotics and aircraft system development. Learn More >

Energy Officials Launch US-UAE Strategic Energy Dialogue

US Deputy Secretary of Energy Daniel Poneman traveled to Abu Dhabi to meet with UAE counterparts in the sector, including UAE Energy Minister Suhail Al Mazrouei. Together, the two launched the US-UAE Strategic Energy Dialogue which consisted of a day-long comprehensive discussion of pressing energy issues including developing an integrated energy policy, promoting the best use of natural resources, and sharing best practices on the use of appliance energy standards. Learn More >

Back to School for NYU Abu Dhabi Students at New Campus

NYU Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) students started their classes this fall at the new Saadiyat Island Campus. The architecture of the campus is meant to encourage interaction among students as well as stimulate their curiosity for the region and outside world in order to fulfill the university's global vision. NYUAD sent off its first graduating class this past spring with a commencement speech by former President Bill Clinton. Learn More >

On September 24, 2011, the UAE held its second parliamentary elections to elect half of the Federal National Council (FNC) members.



Smart Living City Dubai 2014 will take place at the Jumeirah Emirates Towers. Held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, the event will bring together startups, investors, corporations, and government to share ideas and best practices about creating and enhancing global smart cities.


The eighth annual Abu Dhabi Film Festival will take place at Emirates Palace. Festival-goers can enjoy both international and Arab films from a variety of genres.


The Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix will take place on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. Featuring a scenic track and top speeds of 320 km/h, the race is also one of the few featured venues to run counterclockwise.



Washington DC students visit Past Forward, the first major touring exhibition of Emirati artwork. The exhibition will travel to cities across the US over the next 18 months.  See Photo Gallery >
