UAE Airlines Announce Largest Commercial Aircraft Order in History


When combined, UAE passenger airlines, Etihad, Emirates and flydubai, will buy more than 300 new Boeing aircraft with a value of more than $120 billion, including General Electric engines and maintenance services. For US companies like Boeing and GE, this commitment from UAE airlines promotes US exports and supports hundreds of thousands of US jobs. Learn More >

US Secretary of State Reaffirms Strong UAE-US Strategic Relationship During Visit to Abu Dhabi


In a joint press briefing with UAE Foreign Minister HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, US Secretary of State John Kerry called the relationship between the UAE and US “very strong” and described it as “based on a joint commitment to security and to stability in the region." While in Abu Dhabi, the US Secretary of State met with UAE government leaders to discuss regional security matters, including Iran, Egypt, Syria and the Israeli-Palestinian peace process. Adams Morgan Community in Washington, DC Scores with New Soccer Field From UAE Embassy and DC Department of General Services


The Adams Morgan community celebrated the dedication of a new all-weather turf soccer field at Marie Reed Elementary School, a gift from the UAE Embassy. UAE Ambassador Yousef Al Otaiba joined DC Mayor Vincent Gray, DC Public Schools Chancellor Kaya Henderson, School Principal Eugene Pinkard, representatives from DC United and college soccer programs, and children and their parents for the dedication ceremony of the field and surrounding amphitheater. Students at Marie Reed will also receive complimentary youth soccer coaching programs from City Soccer in the Community. Learn More >

More Emirati Students Studying in the US Than Ever Before

According to the 2013 Open Doors Report on International Educational Exchange -- released on November 11 by the Institute of International Education (IIE) -- the number of students from the United Arab Emirates studying in the US increased by 7.6 percent from 2,097 in 2011/2012 to 2,256 in 2012/2013. The report also highlights the growing interest of US students to pursue studies in the UAE – there was a 39.5 percent increase from 2010 to 2012.  Learn More >

Sharjah Business Delegation Visits Washington, DC and New York to Promote Business in the Emirate

The Sharjah Roadshow, a delegation representing more than twenty Sharjah-based organizations from a range of sectors, including health, the environment and transportation and logistics, visited the US to network with American counterparts and highlight the Emirate as a destination for business, tourism and culture. Historically an important trade and commerce seaport in the Gulf, Sharjah’s air and sea port continue to make it an ideal location for investors. The trip was organized by the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) and included Chairman of the Sharjah Media Centre Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qassimi. Learn More >

THIS MONTH IN HISTORY

On November 3, 2004, HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, became the Ruler of Abu Dhabi and second President of the United Arab Emirates. He succeeded his father, Sheikh Zayed, whose vision led to the country's transformation from a culture reliant on agriculture and fishing to an entrepreneurial success story.

Abu Dhabi Art is a platform for modern and contemporary art and public programs that brings together leading art galleries from around the world. It will take place in Saadiyat Cultural District, the future home of Louvre Abu Dhabi, Zayed National Museum and Guggenheim Abu Dhabi.

Tennis champions Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray and more will compete for the Championship title and $250,000 at the 2013 Mubadala World Tennis Championship which will take place at the Abu Dhabi International Tennis Complex.

The World Future Energy Summit (WFES) will take place at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre. Hosted by Masdar, it is the world’s foremost event where stakeholders gather to discuss renewable energies, energy efficiency and clean technologies.

The annual UAE Healthy Kidney 10K race is sponsored by the Embassy of the UAE in honor of late president Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, a kidney transplant recipient. Held in support of the National Kidney Foundation, it is one of the Embassy's many initiatives to give back to local communities.
