Classes Resume
Dear Parents,
This Sunday is the fourth Sunday of Advent. We will relight the first three candles of the Advent Wreath -- the candles of hope, love, and joy and light the fourth candle, the candle of peace.  This candle reminds us that Jesus comes to bring Peace to both the world and to people's hearts. Without Christ there is no peace in this world.  Advent is a time for kindness, thinking of others, and sharing with others. It is a time to love as God loved us by giving us his most precious gift. As God is love, let us be love also.
The past weeks at St. Joan of Arc School have been filled with preparation for and celebration of Christmas.  In an effort to prepare our hearts for Christmas, we gathered as a school community for a prayer service each Monday of Advent. As each classroom gathered in a circle around their classroom wreath we lit our school wreath and “passed the Light” to each classroom. Thanks to the generosity of our PTO, all of our students had the opportunity to shop for families and friends at the Christmas Bazaar.   Our Kindergarteners worked with their 8th grade Big Brothers and Sisters to build gingerbread houses.
Finally, we sang, danced, and celebrated Christmas in our wonderful choral and band concert.
We have not forgotten that Jesus is the Reason for the Season that He is the Light of the world, the Light of our families, the Light of our hearts.   In the name of the faculty, staff, children and families of St. Joan of Arc School, I wish everyone a Blessed Christmas and a Peace-filled New Year!
 God's Blessings,
Shelley DiBacco

This Week in Crusader Basketball….
The 6th Grade Boys improved to 2-0 on the season by defeating St. Paschal Baylon 26-18.  Peter Spellacy led the team in scoring with 9 points followed by AJ Panzica (7), and AJ Gildone (6).  SJA went on a 9-0 run to end the first quarter, and the defense held SPB to just 2 points in each of the 1st and 4th quarters.
The 7th Grade Boys team outlasted St. Gabriel 41-32 on Sunday. The boys pulled out from a 1 point half-time defect by posting a 15-4 third quarter. The team switched into a full court press which allowed them to turn the tables on St. Gabe. Top steals were posted by Ricky Holmes (3), Jack Alexander (3) and Camden Vogley. High scorers for the game were Leo Fonash (12 points) and Camden Vogley (10 points).

Science Fair Judges Needed
Science Fair Judges needed: Are you interested in encouraging young students appreciation for Science? Do you work as a scientist or engineer? Then please consider judging the Saint Joan of Arc Science Fair to be held on Saturday, January 26, 2019 from 10 am until 2 pm at Saint Joan of Arc School. Science projects are often the first experiences that inspire students to work in the Science field. Come see the scientists of tomorrow! Mr. Nieves and our SJA students would greatly appreciate your support during this process.  Please contact Mr. Nieves at or at 440-247-6530 if you would like to volunteer.
PTO News
The next Skating Party is on Thursday, December 27th from 10 am - Noon. Admission is $5 and rentals are $4.  This party is being hosted by the 3rd and 4th grades. We hope to see you there.

The PTO will be collecting any gently used holiday gift bags when we return on January 7th!  Please keep that in mind when you are "wrapping up" after the holidays.

If anyone is interested in joining the PTO next year as either the treasurer or VP, please contact a member of the PTO.

Thank you for all your support during this year!  The PTO appreciates all the volunteers and all those who support our endeavors!  Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!  See you in 2019!
