Updated CYO News
Unfortunately, I inadvertently put in last week's CYO Basketball News.  Please find below this week's news. Way to go SJA Teams!
This Week in Crusader Basketball….
The Mighty 4th grade boys played with great determination and sportsmanship on Sunday.  All 12 team members showed strong contribution and effort to win, but lost to Gesu 21-17.  Elliot Kler, 8 pts., Dominic Corletzi, 4 pts., Braeden Ryan, 4 pts., Cooper Schmoldt 1 pt.
The 6th grade boys were victorious on Sunday defeating Corpus Christi Academy 38-27. It was a true team effort as 8 of 9 players scored at least 1 point. The scoring was pretty even for the Crusaders who shared the ball unselfishly throughout the game and played solid fundamental defense which led to many steals and fast breaks. The highlight of the game was Jack Overman, who scored his first point as a Crusader after drawing a foul driving to the basket. Upon Jack making his first free throw, he jumped up and cheered, and the crowd, recognizing the moment, cheered raucously for Jack as did his teammates!  Congrats to Jack, and to our 6th grade boys who are now 3-0, and leading their division going into the Christmas break.
The 7th Grade Boys team ran out to a 61 - 26 victory over St. Francis of Assisi on Sunday at Gilmour. The team carried a 14 point lead into half-time and road that to a comfortable victory. The defense was led by Ricky Holmes (7 rebounds / 5 steals), Colm Matheney (5 rebounds) and a trio of pick-pockets Camden Vogley, Jack Alexander and Holden Kajfasz who piled up 16 steals between them. The scoring came from all over the court as Holden Kajfasz lead with 14 points while Weston Toth, Colm Matheney and Camden Vogley each chipped in 8 points.
