Dear Parents,

Calling all actors and actresses to a special theatre experience.  Come and join the Penguin Project!!   This spring, a magical and touching celebration of the human spirit will unfold as St. Joan of Arc School, Chagrin Valley Little Theatre and the Penguin Project come together to perform a modified version of the well-known play, “The Wizard of Oz”. Our production will be quite unique, however, because all of the roles will be filled by children with developmental disabilities. The Penguin Project, founded by Dr. Andrew Morgan, focuses on giving children with disabilities the chance to experience musical theatre in all its glory! It provides a beautiful opportunity for children with and without special needs to work together towards one common goal: show business.   The Penguin Project is open to any individual ages 8 to 22 with a disability. This includes children with cognitive, learning, motor, hearing and visual impairments, genetic disorders, and neurological disorders.  The Penguin Project utilizes a “peer mentor” system, linking each young artist with an age-level peer, in grades 5 - 12, who does not have a disability. The peer-mentors work side-by-side with their partners, assisting them throughout the entire rehearsal process and on stage.  If you are interested in joining the Penguin Project, either as a peer mentor or an actress or actor, please join us in the Olsavsky Center for the Penguin Project Kickoff Meeting on Monday, December 3rd at 7:00 PM.  We will be presenting the musical “The Wizard of Oz” on April 13th and 14th . This is a great way to live out our mission.  For more information, contact us at stjoanpenguin@stjoanofarc.org or 440-247-6530.
The St. Joan of Arc Student Council  is running a  “Coin War” to benefit Chagrin Falls Community Park. Each classroom has received a jar to collect change and students are asked to bring in change throughout the week.  Students are having a great time "sabotaging" other classes!  The classroom with the highest total will win a dress down day.  Tuesday, November 13th, is the final day to bring in change.

Dear SJA Parents,
The coin war had been a huge success.  The money raised will greatly help the Chagrin Falls Community Park.  The competition ends on Tuesday, November 13 so be sure to bring in more coins.  Your participation is greatly appreciated.
Thanks you,
Student Council

Lunch Help
St. Joan of Arc School is still looking for two full-time Lunch/Playground monitors. This is a paid position requiring a year-long commitment.  If needed, this could be a position split between two people, someone to work MWF and another TTh.  If you are interested in becoming a monitor or if you know of someone else who may be interested in these positions, please contact Shelley DiBacco at sdibacco@stjoanofarc.org or 440-247-6530.
