Beginning next week, your child will take tests called Measures of Academic Progress® (MAP®). This online assessment replaces the IOWA tests that were taken previously. We will administer MAP tests to determine each child’s instructional level and to measure academic growth throughout the school year (and from year to year) in Math, Reading, and Science.
These tests will be used to benchmark all students and to help identify individual strengths and needs for intervention. MAP tests are unique in that they adapt to be appropriate for each child’s level of learning. They also provide detailed information about every child’s growth.
This school year, students in grades K-8 will take the MAP tests in Math, Reading, and Science on days selected during the following windows: Fall (September 10- September 28), Winter (January 7 - January 25), and Spring (April 29 – May 17). Following each testing period, you will receive a report that informs you of your child’s performance.
As always, I encourage you to contact your child’s teacher if you ever have questions about your child's progress. Open and ongoing communication between school and home will only help your child be as successful as possible! Please do not hesitate to reach out.
It is so nice to see the parents of our school children and our St. Joan of Arc parishioners at mass. Mass begins at 9:00AM. If you arrive after Mass has started, please do not interrupt the celebration of the liturgy by walking around trying to find your child/children to sit with you. Once Mass has begun, students will have to remain seated with their class.
