No School - Martin Luther King Day
Tuesday, January , 2019
Mass - 9:00AM

Penguin Project practice - 3:30-5:00PM
Dear Parents,
The month of January seems to be going by so quickly.  This is always such a busy month.  The second semester/third quarter begins on January 22 and report cards will be distributed on Friday, January 25th.
Catholic Schools Week begins on Sunday, January 27th with 11:00 Mass followed by our Open House 12:000-2:00.
Students attending 11:00 Mass are encouraged to show their SJA pride by wearing their school uniform to Mass.
In preparation for our Open House, our 7th and 8th graders have been busy over the past three months working on their Science Fair projects.   Science Fair is a journey of scientific inquiry.  It begins with students answering a scientific question by conducting an experiment and the process ends with our Science Fair showing the students that their work matters to the school community.  Science Fair projects integrate skills they’ve learned in other classes including: math skills, computer skills, research skills, and writing and presentation skills.
Our eighth graders have been busy this week completing their high school applications.  Please keep them in your prayers as they begin this process.  We congratulate Jake Romanini who has been recognized as an Ignatian Scholar at Saint Ignatius High School due to his outstanding entrance exam scores.
The whole school is excited about our Book Fair. An amazing selection of books is headed our way. The Book Fair will open on January 27th.  At the Book Fair you will find the latest and finest titles for kids, as well as books of interest to parents. You can also contribute books to your child's classroom library.  The Book Fair is a great way to get everyone excited about reading. See you there!
The greatest form of marketing our excellent school is by word of mouth, so I ask all of you to spread the word about our school. Please invite family, friends and neighbors to join you at our Open House on January 27th.   This year, if a current family recommends St. Joan of Arc School to another family and that family registers, the “recommending family” will receive half off their registration fee!
In celebration of Martin Luther King Day there will be no school on Monday, January 21st.

God's Blessings,
Shelley DiBacco

Connor Romanini, recently back in action from the Injured Reserve, put up a triple double (10 points and 10 rebounds) Ricky Holmes had 9 points and Leo Fonash chipped in 7 during Friday night's semi-final. The scoring was spread out in the last game Saturday as five players scored 6 or more points Holden Kajfasz (10), Jack Alexander (7), Charlie Robinson (6), Camden Vogley (6) and Bridger Bichof (6).

The 5th grade boys played a tough game on Saturday but ended up losing 26 - 13. The score does not indicate how well they played. The Crusaders were led by Christian Bittner with 6 points. Also contributing were Pierce Brown with 4, Canyon Yeager with 3, Drew Arslanian and Aiden Insana with 2 each.
The 6th Grade boys hung on to beat St. Anselm 34-28.  The Spartans tied the game at 24 early in the 4th, but Josh Koltas hit a free throw to put the Crusaders up for good.  The SJA defense came up with a number of big turnovers off the full court press in the 4th quarter.  Slater Schoaf led the team in scoring with 14, followed by Gunnar Didier with 10, and Charlie Eibler scored his first points of the season.
