Dear Parents, Catholic Schools Week begins with 11:00AM Mass on Sunday, January 27th. We are encouraging all of our students to attend the 11:00 AM Mass wearing their school uniform as a sign of pride for St. Joan of Arc School. The theme for National Catholic Schools Week 2019 is “Catholic Schools: Learn. Serve. Lead. Succeed.” Schools typically observe the annual celebration week with Masses, open houses and other activities for students, families, parishioners and community members. Through these events, schools focus on the value Catholic education provides to young people and its contributions to our church, our communities and our nation. Many see the marvelous reality of Catholic education every day at St. Joan of Arc School. It is seen in the dedication and integrity of our certified staff, in our pastor who believes in our school and in Catholic education. The life long values that our alumni continue to embody long after they have left our doors, and the generous spirit our volunteers bring to us every day, is what we appreciate as a 21st century Catholic school. We are grateful for our parents and for our teachers who teach the faith on a daily basis and we are grateful for the opportunity to pass on our faith to the next generation, in our homes and in our school. Faith formation and a sound education-thank you for supporting our mission and choosing these two great gifts for your child at St. Joan of Arc Catholic School. To quote St. John Paul II, “The education of children and young people continues to be of fundamental importance in the Church's mission and for civil society itself. Therefore it is right that Christian parents continue to claim and support the right to a Catholic education which is truly free, in which a true religious education can be imparted, and in which the rights of the family will be properly respected and safeguarded.” We have a fun filled week planned. Please join us for our special activities!

Weekend Update for CYO Basketball:
Due to the inclement weather, all CYO League Games were canceled. There are several of our teams that still competed in their respective tournaments despite the winter storms.
The 7th Grade Boys team fell 38-32 to St. Mary's Chardon in the Corpus Christi Christmas Tournament Final. The team started slowly and fell behind 19-10 after the first quarter but they were able to come all the way back and take the lead in the fourth. The teams exchanged the lead several times in the final 4 minutes however St. Mary's was able to put together a scoring run and made several free throws down the stretch to eventually pull away. Jack Alexander was the high scorer with 8 points. The boys finished 4-1 in the tournament and each player was awarded a runner-up medal.
The 3rd Grade Boys team was victorious as they began their first game in the St. Michael’s Tournament. The boys beat St. Albert the Great with a score of 20-5. Eddie Gleine and Ethan Pierre had impressive baskets and Ethan White showed up strong with a great defensive game!
