Spring in the Lakes in partnership with...

There is no better season to visit the lakes than Spring! Wander lonely as a cloud, get on your bike in search of a host of golden daffodils, then head to the pub for some tasty Lake District Fayre.

 
Low Wray is a paradise for nature lovers, the site is covered in a scented carpet of bluebells and wild garlic.  Woodpeekers can be heard tap, tap tapping and roe deer can be seen in the woodland.  What a great way to teach children and get them out of the class room for some real education.  Take them on an orienteering expedition with one of the National Trusts specially devised routes through the site.

Low Wray on Windermere...
This year we have made this site much more open and spacious, we now have 7 fully equipped tipis on this site which gives extra room foor family games but also gives guests extra privacy.



Hoathwaite on Coniston...
It will be our second season at Hoathwaite and we are looking forward to the guest reviews when they have marveled at the spectacular setting, lake views and great Lakeland pubs within walking distance. We have three fully equipped tipis on this site and they can also be booked all together for groups of families or adults.

Group bookings......we can now offer three tipis that can be booked together at our Coniston site.
Family gatherings and groups of well behaved adults (up to 15 people) can now be accommodated at our Hoathwaite site.

Cycling at Low Wray

No need to haul your bikes with you as the National Trust now hires bikes from our Low Wray campsite and you can take any of the specially cycle routes ffrom the site there are routes for all abilities.
You can now also  hire electric bikes from the site as part of the Electric Bike Network. Keep fit and Happy.

Treat yourself

The Lake District is renowned for its delicious and wholesome delicacies, when you are out and about why not visit Hawkshead Relish www.hawksheadrelish.com or the Apple Pie Bakery www.applepieambleside.co.uk and pick up some local goodies. On return to your tipi you can light the candles, strike a match to the outdoor fire then sit and star gaze or head off to the local pub for dinner. The legendary Drunken Duck Inn is a 45 minute walk away  from Low Wray or The Wilsons Arms nr Coniston both hostelries offers a fantastic Country Inn experience with local ales and gourmet foods. If you don’t fancy cooking breakfast in the morning then at Low Wray you can stroll down to the on site shop for freshly baked morning croissants!, baguettes or pain au chocolate or at Hoathwaite you must try the Famous Bluebird Cafe and enjoy a bacon butty on the shore of Lake Conioston. Camping doesn’t get much better than this!

 Foraging for food is all the rage at the moment, it has always been there but some times we do not know how to prepeare foraged goodies.
