Update on Masks at Sacred Heart College from Monday 13 June

We wish to advise that as of Monday 13 June students and staff will be required to wear masks while indoors at the College (as well as on public transport as per current Ministry of Health requirements).
Factors that were critical in making this decision included the number of staff and student absences, an increase in winter viruses and illnesses, and more flu-like symptoms among students and staff. By wearing a mask it provides another tool for minimising the direct spread of viruses. However, it is important to remember that mask wearing is just one part of keeping our community safe. First and foremost, if your son is unwell or symptomatic, please keep him at home. Regular washing of hands or using hand sanitiser, and covering coughs or sneezes are also ways of preventing the spread of illnesses. For more information, please see the COVID-19 website.
Mask wearing will be in place until the end of Term 2, which at that time, it will be reviewed.

Rotation for Year Levels learning from home

As signaled earlier this week, we would now like to confirm the following Year Levels will be learning from home next week:

Monday 13 June - Year 12
Tuesday 14 June - Year 9
Wednesday 15 June - Year 11
Thursday 16 June - Year 10
Friday 17 June - Year 13

Please note, Boarders will remain onsite and supervised as per previous occasions.

We will continue to monitor and review the staff and student absent rate, and confirm if this will continue into further weeks.

What are the expectations of my son when he is required to learn from home?
During this time (if he is well), he must ensure that he keeps up-to-date with his work. Work for that Year Level will be set on Google Classrooms. At this stage, Zoom lessons will not be held for any Year Level as teachers will be providing relief within the College. If your son is unwell, work should be caught up once feeling well enough to complete it. Students should stay in contact with their teachers to keep them informed of their situation.
