Dear Neighbors and Friends,
Every single day, I am humbled, encouraged, and inspired by the support of my Ward 5 neighbors, other DC residents, friends and former colleagues. I am especially appreciative of the people who have acknowledged my work in the community over the years as their reasons for supporting my candidacy now.
Many of the leaders of our city, and those of community-based and civic organizations support me because they know my commitment, my work ethic, and my talents through the many things we have accomplished together. The truth is, I have been working in our community, from the moment my family came to live in the Ward 12 years ago. From that work, I came to understand the very fabric, culture, and rich legacy of our community. I saw the foundation that was laid and how together we can not only preserve it but make it more equitable for all of our neighbors.
This work is about my passion for our community; not about the spotlight, recognition, or pats on the back. The work that I have done alongside fellow community members, advocates, neighbors, and families has led to the improvement of public schools, maternal and infant health, child care quality and access, COVID recovery, and more. I do this work because I am personally invested in the outcomes, understanding that I am a part of something much bigger than myself.
I am running to represent Ward 5 on the DC Council because I have a deep love for and commitment to our Ward. I know how critical it is to make “policy” mean something very tangible to our neighbors’ everyday lives – I have lived it, studied it, and worked on it. I know our Ward, its strengths, its challenges, and its opportunities for growth; I know the value and power of the people in our communities, and I know how to bring our government’s resources to the Ward in ways that can, and will, work for all of us.
I thank you for your support and I hope to see you soon in the Ward.
In partnership,

Faith Gibson Hubbard
