As the Founder of American Muslim Health Professionals (AMHP), I am proud of our collective work in building a national-level institution that addresses the unique needs and concerns of the American Muslim community. The need for us to unite and work together to improve the health of all Americans is of critical importance in light of the political landscape and uncertain future. I hope you will join me in the Monthly Donor Club and give as little as $100 a month online at the link here or make a one-time donation to support AMHP.
Sustained change can only be accomplished through your support. Below is a brief overview of some of our accomplishments and upcoming initiatives around our three program areas:
Anti-Bullying Committee: We convened a committee that will assess existing anti-bullying efforts and resources, identify gaps that need to be filled, and promote collaboration among organizations.
Muslim Youth Identity Series: These events were led by youth speakers who shared their personal experiences of forming their Muslim identity in a climate of prejudice and Islamophobia. More events are planned in other cities for 2017.
Open Enrollment Cycle Four: Over the past three open enrollment periods, AMHP coordinated outreach and enrollment events so the Muslim community can get access to affordable health coverage under the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
National Interfaith Enrollment Campaign (NIEC): This year, we are broadening our reach to target all communities regardless of religious affiliation. NIEC is one of the campaigns we are coordinating in partnership with leadership from various congregations and religious denominations.
AMHP developed webinars, panel sessions, and social media campaigns to raise awareness about challenges around accessibility at mosques, at work, and at home, and to empower communities to serve people with disabilities.
Website: AMHP is refining the EnabledMuslim website. We will build online resources and ensure they are fully web-accessible so individuals with visual impairment or other disabilities can navigate the site.
These are some of the many reasons why I am a Monthly Donor to AMHP. I hope you will join me in the Monthly Donor Club and give as little as $100, $50, or $25 a month at the link here, or make a one-time donation online or by mailing a check payable to AMHP to 2118 Plum Grove Road #201, Rolling Meadows, IL 60008. Your tax-deductible donation is greatly appreciated and will help ensure AMHP's future as a longstanding institution.
I hope we can count on you to support our mission of improving the health of Americans in 2017 and beyond. Please feel free to reach out if you have additional questions about AMHP and our work!
