Assalam Alaikum

It was a pleasure to meet some of you at AMHP’s Networking Luncheon in Detroit last weekend. The event exceeded our expectations on every front. Attendance was completely sold outDr. Rami Nashashibi and Lisa Carr delivered impactful keynote addresses, sharing poignant perspectives on the need for American Muslims to actively and critically engage with our health care system and sharing valuable resources about the Affordable Care Act.

My personal highlight was honoring our
Community Service Leadership Awardee, Mobin Tawakkul, with the President of Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), Imam Mohamed MagidMobin’s noble presence and heartfelt acceptance speech, which can be viewed here, prompted a standing ovation from the audience and left each of us inspired.

During ISNA Convention, our Program Director, Maggie Siddiqi, launched EnabledMuslim, an online community for spiritual and practical support for Muslims with disabilities and their loved ones.  We are also really excited to launch our Membership Program. The membership platform will enable dialogue and collaboration between health professionals and students for personal and professional growth while advancing public health, social justice, and civic engagement within their communities. We invite you to become an official AMHP member today and gain access to an innovative membership platform along with a collaborative and dynamic national network of students and professionals.
