I hope everyone had a blessed Ramadan.  A heartfelt thanks to all donors who contributed to our fundraising goal that month. Your generous donations will help support our mission to improve the health of Americans through our various programs and initiatives. Last month, AMHP was invited to a invited to a forum at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) where Secretary of Health, Sylvia Burwell, and senior leaders from HHS provided important updates on the next enrollment cycle on the Affordable Care Act. Once the resources are shared with us, we will upload on AMHP’s website so anyone conducting enrollments in their communities can access them easily.

If you are attending the ISNA Convention in Detroit, we hope you can join us at the networking luncheon on Sunday, Aug. 31st, where you will have an opportunity to interact with a diverse group of health professionals and students from across the country and hear keynote addresses from Lisa Carr and Dr. Rami Nashashibi. AMHP ANNUAL NETWORKING LUNCHEON

Fundamental to the work of American Muslim Health Professionals (AMHP) has been empowering the next generation of thinkers, leaders, and practitioners. To this end, we are thrilled to host our Annual Networking Luncheon for health professionals and students during the 51st Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) Convention over Labor Day weekend in Detroit, MI.

This session will look at how community can help us get back on course by promoting spiritual and mental well-being for individuals and families and explore what the real issues are and what resources are available from Muslim organizations. 
 
Creating Enabling Mosques: Welcoming Muslims of All Abilities in the Houses of Allah
This session will explore how we can transform our mosques into spaces where Muslims with disabilities and their families feel welcomed for who they are and have ample opportunities for worship, friendship, and even leadership.
 
Obamacare: Understanding the Affordable Care Act
What do our communities need to know about health insurance under the Affordable Care Act (ACA)? Why does it matter, and what’s required? Panelists will explain the new law and share resources and best practices for local leaders to get everyone in their community enrolled in affordable health coverage.

GRANT WRITER

 
AMHP seeks a Grant Writer to raise the essential funding to help fulfill the mission.  The Grant Writer is primarily responsible for developing and writing grant proposals to foundations and other grant-making organizations, and will persuasively communicate AMHP's mission and programs to potential funders.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Grant Writer will assemble and submit grant requests, establish and maintain personal contact and relationships with foundation contacts, conduct prospect research, and maintain a calendar of submissions and other deadlines.
