"How nourishing for the choristers, how rewarding for the audience. Thank you!"

Wintersong Fills McDougall With Music

McDougall United was full of the enthusiastic music-making of almost 400 singers and attracted hundreds of audience members at each concert, which made Wintersong a winter treat for both the ears and eyes!  Songs about snowmen, a Spanish carol being danced and sung, movement with candles, costumes, and of course Kokopelli Choirs' signature humour all made for a wonderful winter day.

All of it comes together under Scott Leithead’s artistic vision, the conductors who nurture and teach the singers from week to week, and with the help of a village of volunteers. Thanks to everyone who helped!  Congratulations to the raffle winners, and a special shout out to our sponsors: Burke Media, Bryan and Alison’s No Frills, Allstar Show Industries, Earth's Friendly Distributors, and also to our grantors: Edmonton Arts Council, The City of Edmonton, the Government of Alberta, Alberta Foundation for the Arts, Alberta Community Development, Alberta Lottery Fund, and the Edmonton Community Foundation.

Still Accepting Registrations!

Is there a small child (2.5 to 4 years of age) in your life? Spíra, our new ten-session early-childhood music program, still has room for new participants. Register quickly!  Using the excellent research-based curriculum developed by Musikgarten, Spíra (pronounced SPEE-rah, an Icelandic word meaning “sprouts”) gives parents and young children the chance to bond through making music together.  With games, songs, and activities, Spíra immerses your child in music and movement to help them grow and develop.  The program is being led by one of the fantastic members of the artistic team – Susan Farrell.  Please spread the word!

Retreat and Renew

Òran, our busiest adult choir, had its winter retreat this past weekend. The chill of the weather couldn't dampen the warmth and coziness for the group, led by guest clinician Lisa Ward (Choirs Red Deer) at Van Es Camp & Conference Centre. It was a weekend filled with singing and community (and only a little bit of car boosting at the end!)

Support our arts community

Our friends at Catalyst Theatre are mounting an amazing musical production called "The Invisible".

Inspired by the stories of real life female SOE’s, The Invisible, Agents of Ungentlemanly Warfare, is a musical tour-de-force from Catalyst Theatre. From February 4-25, watch seven exceptional female operatives risk their lives to fight a dangerous war of sabotage, propaganda and espionage in 1940s France — breaking with decorum and defying expectations.
Catalyst generously shared a pair of tickets with us for giveaway to one of our Facebook fans who signed up for our Livewire newsletter, and we are delighted to support their work and share it with our audiences!

Congratulations to the lucky ticket winner!
