Welcome to the Enfield Mailing List
It's crazy to think that we have already made 3 vintages, bottled 2 of them, and just now we are releasing our first wine. Winemaking truly is an exercise in patience. We have gotten lost on the dirt roads of California, waded through the seas of government red tape, and caffeinated through the early mornings in the vineyard and late nights in the cave, but we made it through and now comes the fun part . . tasting the journey.

I couldn't be more excited for our inaugural release to come from the Haynes vineyard, a truly noble site with a ton of Napa history and even some Chardonnay vines that date back to the 1960's. Located in Coombsville, Napa's newest AVA, the combination of cool bay air and rocky/volcanic soil, allowed us to make the kind of wine we know Napa can produce, but hasn't in many years. To power and elegance . . .

2010 Haynes Vineyard Syrah        (120 Cases produced, $36/btl, 13.7% Alc.)
2010 was a cool year with a few fierce heat spikes that pushed the grapes to ripeness late in the season. Fermented 100% whole cluster with native yeast and gently foot tread 1-2x a day, the syrah is sublimely aromatic and leads with white peach and deep red berry fruit, but as it opens up (and this wine can definitely handle a decant) the cool climate elements of syrah begin to come out - violet and lavender, rhubarb, black olive and wet stone. The finish is fresh and lively with good acidity and soft volcanic tannins.
For fans of California syrah, those who know, you will be swimming in the nose and charmed that this fruit came from east of 101. For those of you who are just starting out on your vinological journeys and haven't discovered the joys of California Syrah, well . .

With such a small production, we have a limited amount of wine to sell. Through the mailing list we offer you all the first opportunity to purchase each of our new wines as they are released, to make sure you get a chance to try them before they disappear.

To Purchase - you may place an order through our website with a credit card or paypal account and have the wine shipped to you. Or you may email me directly at john@enfieldwine.com and have the option to save on shipping and come visit us in St. Helena for a glass of wine and pick up your order while you are here.
Outside of California - I wish our federal government made it easier to ship wine interstate, unfortuneately in the reality of the wine industry, this is not the case. Do not be discouraged, email me directly with your order and we will do everything in our power to get the wine to you.
Summer Shipping - We do not normally ship wine when daytime temperatures exceed 80 degrees. In honor of our first release, we would like to offer a free upgrade to temperature controlled shipping on purchases of 4 bottles or more to our mailing list customers.
