Happy Holidays - Feng Shui'ing All The "Angel Way"

by Angela Davis

Feng Shui and the Holidays:
The holiday season is fast approaching so why not add some Feng Shui intention, the "Angel Way" to those holiday decorations this season?  Not only will you be making the season cheery and bright, you'll be layering your home with the blessing of positive energy/chi!!  And paying special attention this time of year on seasonal decorations is a beautiful way to welcome a bit of holiday magic into your home whether you celebrate the Solstice, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, or Christmas. Here's some ideas that will welcome in peace, joy and happiness!!

Front Door:
The front door is the 'mouth of chi' in Feng Shui, so make sure it's clean, clear of clutter and welcoming.  Sound is one of the 9 Traditional Cures in Feng Shui so be sure to include some Jingle Bells on your door handle or in a wreath. Every time you open the door, the bells will ring out welcoming positive chi into your home. Use the Bagua Map ( to determine where your front door falls along the front of your home.  For a door on the left third of the home, hang a blue wreath.  For a door located centrally on the front of the home, use a black hued wreath. For a door along the right third of the home, use silver and metallic colors. If this is not 'seasonal' enough for you, use the color red; the most chi activating and fortuitous color in Feng Shui. Add golden apples, pears and/or bells to bump up the chi power.  Top it off with a big, red ribbon of any shade from racer red to auburn, copper, pink, even clay colored will work.

If you want to focus on keeping your and yours healthy and happy during the most wonderful time of the year, place a gold/yellow themed juniper or pine wreath around a gold/yellow candle atop the center of your dining room table, coffee table in your family room, or in the center of the room that is the true center of your home.  This wreath should also include fruit (peaches, pears, cherries or apples made of earth, wood, or glittered or flocked).  These fruits symbolize health in Feng Shui, while juniper/pine symbolize longevity. You can also use real fruit but make sure that it does not go bad; replace it at the first sight of rotting.  Even better - eat the real fruit from the display while constantly replacing it - what a beautiful way to bring good fortune and health into your life.  And how yummy is that?!?

Fame & Reputation:
Want to be known as having the BEST holiday decorations on the block?  Then try this cure of placing red feathers in your Fame & Reputation gua (  Fame & Reputation highlights animal prints, feathers, red and pointy, triangular shapes - this cure brings all those into one. If you can't find a red feather wreath to purchase, make your own version by using a red feather boa wrapped around a wreath form.  Another way to pump up the volume on Fame & Reputation is to wrap red lights around a star shape (after all YOU are the star of your life).

All white wreaths on the front door is a Feng Shui no-no as it attracts bad chi.  Mix in some silvers, golds, bright colors, pastels, even black -- anything to get the energy coming in the door as bright as your season.  Avoid the fake snow for the same reason - that means flocked trees, too - sorry.  And no to sha chi (bad energy) inviting pins, prickles, and sharp edges on a wreath, especially at the door; if it makes you draw up tight, it will do the same to the happy, relaxed, joyful energy you want in your holiday season.  Happy Feng Shui'ing!!

Angela Davis
