A crash. An earthshaking, overwhelming bang that could signal the end. But instead it becomes a fresh start, a way forward. Underart is an ode to what happens after a crash landing. To what happens thanks to a crash landing. Based on the directors’ own lived story.

The Life & Times of Ms. Karen Henderson
By Maria Naidu

The Life & Times of Ms. Karen Henderson is a vibrant fireworks packed with large doses of ironic humour, ambiguity and quite a bit of dance. A multifaceted solo performance that ponders questions of cultural identity, ethnic belonging as well as some curiously held stereotypical notions of dance as a profession.

In this critically-acclaimed, exciting new creation, circus, theater, and interactive elements are combined as contemporary circus performers Magnus Bjøru and Manu Tiger take their audience on a thrilling journey. Surrounded by stadium lighting with various contraptions dotting the stage, the performers’ Velcro-suited bodies make contact and are cleaved apart with the recognizable rip, providing an unexpected delight. As the performers’ interactions escalate, the idea of attachment is explored in its many forms. Ultimately, everything and everyone—including the audience—is attached.

Sensescapes is a performance which proposes a choreographed, interactive and multi-sensory experience to babies 3-18 months old and their care-takers. It is conceived as an installation based environment, consisted of visual, tactile and auditory elements, which induces interplay of the audience's physical movement and sensory input. Sensescapes unfolds a series of carefully composed, interconnected events which aim to involve its audience, trigger their curiosity and encourage their agency in landscape rich in stimuli.

Choreographers Trajal Harrell and Eszter Salamon question the power of the gaze of the dancer and audience and at the same time they question the performative body. Is what we see what we get? Is the body a construction of our desire or our fears? And what do we expose by exposing our body to the gaze of someone else?
