OPA Statement on Patient Safety and Medication Errors
 
Over the past few weeks, media across Canada have been reporting on unfortunate circumstances resulting from medication errors involving pharmacists in Ontario and Saskatchewan. The Ontario Pharmacists Association was saddened to hear of these events and we continue our efforts in working with our colleagues across the profession to help prevent medication errors and to pursue excellence in patient care. Dennis Darby and Carlo Berardi Represent the Ontario Pharmacists Association at CPhA’s Federal Lobby Day
 
Ontario Pharmacists Association CEO Dennis Darby and Board member Carlo Berardi (OPA Representative on the CPhA Board of Directors) were among the more than 30 representatives participating in the Canadian Pharmacists Association’s federal lobby day on October 18, 2016. The day-long event gave pharmacy representatives from across Canada the chance to meet with Members of Parliament, senators, and other government officials to talk about some of the key issues affecting the profession and the health of Canadians. The Ontario Pharmacists Association's Third Party Audits program is a one-day workshop focusing on the audits conducted by private payors. In addition to the didactic sessions, participants will work on interactive cases at the end of each presentation to translate knowledge into practice, and learn from their peers.

This program is recognized by the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP) for pharmacists’ injection training. The program addresses the 15 competencies approved and required by OCP.
