Welcome to Spring!

"Spring is nature's way of saying, 'Let's Party!' "
- Robin Williams

Call it a time of renewal, rebirth and regrowth, Spring officially started on March 20th.  It's a great time of year to focus on one thing:  Decluttering!  I'm sure you've heard the term "spring cleaning". Did you know that the term was specifically chosen for March since it is typically warm enough to open all of the windows and doors, but not warm enough for insects to be a nuisance? Spring cleaning means just that - it's time to thoroughly clean your home and prepare it for the warmer months.  For us at EMPOWER! Professional Organizing, it's a time for us to help you declutter, organize, and create spaces that help you feel situated in your home and office.  As you engage in your spring cleaning exercises, we hope you'll contact us to help.   Happy Spring!  Jessica Elix, Owner

Tips for Spring Cleaning & Organizing

From cleaning to organizing, the concept of spring can be overwhelming for many.  You may have holiday decor or Valentine's Day goodies  lingering around your home.  Martha Stewart has published a great checklist to ensure a thorough cleaning of your home.  If you're tackling the project on your own, our advice is to plan to clean in 2 hour increments so you don't get overwhelmed, bored or tired.  Cleaning is a tough job and to do it efficiently and effectively, you'll need to be prepared.  Here are some things you can do before you even start:
  • Make a list of what you are going to accomplish so you can check items off as you go.  There is something therapeutic of checking items off a list.
  • Make sure you have the necessary supplies you need to do the job.  This should including the right cleaning supplies and gloves.
  • Is it too much or too overwhelming? Call us to help you do the organizing including decluttering and organizing.  You'll be surprised by how much more space you can obtain by consolidating and organizing your items.  AND, it's always more fun having someone around to help you, especially a professional.

For master bedrooms, use an over the door organizer to store jewelry, small wallets and purses, and other accessories like sunglasses, belts, scarves and hats. (Photo credit (Container Store).  Over the door organizers come in many shapes and forms, and start as low as $10.
