People in various corners of the United States have been displaced by catastrophic events over the past few weeks:  fires in the northwest, flooding in the southeast, and two hurricanes – Harvey and Irma.  Our hearts, thoughts and prayers go out to all who have been affected by the devastation.

When disasters strike, your brain can suffer overwhelm.  That’s why it’s important to have a written, executable plan prepared before the event occurs.  Do your thinking while you’re cool-headed and record the steps you’ll follow when the inevitable happens.

“Mind Maps” or “Brain Dumps” are good for more than disaster preparation, though. You will benefit when you organize processes on paper for anything you do.  Grocery shopping is the perfect example of a simple task that gets better outcomes by using a checklist.

This month, we focus on how to Mind Map.  Next month, we’ll look at some of the best apps for Mind Mapping and organization.
