Hey <<First Name>>, welcome to week 4! We hope this semester has been traveling smoothly and you are now settled into the uni routine. In this newsletter, we have some exciting things to share! So keep reading to hear about our upcoming movie night, what committee positions we are now looking to fill, a recap on our BBQ last week, our first installment of 'Meet The Committee, and finally, a really exciting job opportunity.

Semester 2 Committee Recruitment

We are looking for new members to join the committee. We have vacancies for the following positions:
  • Sponsorship Officer (x2)
  • Media Officer (x2)
  • Events Officer (x2)
  • Academic Officer (x2)
  • First Year Representative (x1)
Sponsorship Officer
Sponsorship Officers are responsible for our managing our club sponsors. In this role, you will engage with industry representatives and seek to harbor relationships between companies and our club. Through this role, you will gain experience in both written and spoken communication and also get to network with people in the industry.

Media Officer
Media Officers are responsible for writing newsletters, posting updates to all our social media, and designing for the WIRED brand. Experience in Adobe Creative Suite and 3D Modelling is preferred but not required. Our current media team is happy to assist you in settling into your new role!

Events Officer
Events Officers are responsible for the logistics of our events, from booking rooms to organizing catering, you will be an essential part of our event’s success. Through this role, you will gain experience in event planning and operations and get to enjoy our events behind the scenes from start to finish.

Academic Officer
Academic Officers are responsible for handling everything education-related, such as creating material for our workshops, organising hackathons, and collaborating with the Google Developer Student Club Lead. You will be a great fit for this role if you have a passion and interest in educating others and serve as a mentor role to our club members.

First Year Representative
The First Year Representative is responsible for assisting the committee with general business as well as taking on further responsibilities and duties from the other Officers. As a first year, you will bring a unique perspective to the club which will be highly valued. It is a great opportunity to develop and strengthen your leadership skills while getting an understanding of how a committee operates. To run for this position you must be in your first year at Monash.

Meet The Committee

This week in Meet The Committee, you will be introduced to Dilhan Simsek, our Club President for 2022-2023. 

Hey <<First Name>>! My name is Dilhan, and I'm a second-year student studying Commerce & IT at Monash. I've lived, studied, and worked in the South East of Melbourne my entire life.

For work, I am an Assistant Manager at a retail store I've been working at since I was 16. I've also got experience working as an Electorate Officer for the APH.

Outside of my work and studies, I enjoy going to the AFL and am a strong supporter of the Hawks. I love getting out into the wilderness, fishing, flying my drone, and spending time with mates. 

I look forward to getting to know you and seeing you around at more of our events!

We have an exciting opportunity for a casual IT Support Officer to work with The External Relations, Development and Alumni (ERDA) portfolio in the The Alumni Outreach Centre (AOC).

  • Location:  710 Blackburn Road, Notting Hill
  • Hours:  20+ Hours
  • Pay per hour:  HEW 5, $47.62 per hour (loaded casual rate)

About the team

The Alumni Outreach Centre (AOC) is a critical revenue-raising arm for the University, responsible for delivering Monash’s phone appeal from April-December each year. The AOC is responsible for outbound calling to Monash's donors and alumni for the purpose of acquiring new donors, retaining existing donors, increasing their lifetime value and generating bequest leads. Our student telephone fundraisers are responsible for making thousands of calls to alumni each year. 

About the role

The primary role of the IT Support Officer will be to support the Alumni Outreach Centre (AOC) with maintaining and improving their cloud-based telephony software- ContactSPACE.

The IT Support Officer will manage and monitor the dialler system as well as assist with data management and maintenance to ensure that data is relevant and accurate. The IT Support Officer will upgrade and improve the dialler system to ensure a flexible design that is user-friendly for a range of stakeholders, and assist in the implementation of system solutions.

About you

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of programming languages such as HTML, javascript, jQuery, css and Python. The ability to compile test case documents and implement source code version control is required for success in this role. The successful candidate will have strong communication skills and the ability to effectively use Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
