On June 23, John Keene read from his latest book, Counternarratives

July brings fireworks season, endless sunshine, beach reads -- and a new slate of events! On July 8, Jersey Journal reporter Terrence McDonald discusses urban gentrification with DW Gibson, author of The Edge Becomes the Center. Later in the month, New York Times bestselling authors Jami Attenberg and Susannah Cahalan team up to talk about Attenberg’s widely praised new novel, Saint Mazie.

In her new novel, Saint Mazie, bestselling author Jami Attenberg explores the life of Mazie Gordon-Philips, the real-life "Queen of the Bowery," who took tickets at a theater and helped out the homeless. Attenberg's Mazie, says The New York Times, "truly is a wonder." Attenberg appears in conversation with Susannah Cahalan (Brain on Fire).

In Jersey City, we watch the streets around us change constantly. New restaurants and new businesses seem to open daily. In The Edge Becomes the Center, DW Gibson brings the conversation around the gentrification of New York City to print, asking, "How does this non-stop change feel to the people living there?" Jersey Journal reporter Terrence McDonald joins Gibson to discuss how gentrification affects us here.
