Below are the upcoming events for our Jersey City location. For more info on our Greenpoint, Brooklyn store and events, you can update your subscription preferences here!

WORD had a blast hosting Night Vale podcast creators Jeffrey Cranor and Joseph Fink with moderator Maureen Johnson. They joked and chatted to an audience of over a hundred dedicated listeners.

The holiday season is upon us but that doesn’t mean there’s still  not time for some fun. This month we bring Maria (Sonia Manzano) from Sesame Street (12/6) and the Grinch (12/19) to our store. Also, we open our doors on Saturday, December 12 for our annual Holiday Open House. Shop around for the perfect last minute gift and even get it wrapped! Check out our Holiday Gift Guide here for ideas.

And, as always, if you'd like to get reminders via text you can join our "events class" at https://www.remind.com/join/eventsjc. You'll get one (at most, sometimes less) hand-crafted text a day with event information, through the magic of technology!

For navel gazers:
Michael Ian Black presents Navel Gazing
Wednesday, January 6, 7:30 pm

WORD Jersey City is proud to present New York Times bestselling author and stand-up comedian Michael Ian Black. He delivers a frank and funny memoir about confronting his genetic legacy as he hits his forties.

Whether it's family history, religion, aging, or his parents, Michael Ian Black always has something to say in the dry, irreverent voice that has captured a fan base of millions. When a medical diagnosis forces him to realize he's not getting any younger, he reexamines his life as a middle-aged guy of course, in the deadpan wit and self-deprecating vignettes that have become trademarks of his humor.

The alt-comedy take on getting older, "Navel Gazing "is a funny-because-it's-true memoir about looking around when you're forty and realizing that life is about more than receding hairlines and proving one's manliness on Twitter it's about laughing at yourself.

This event is free and open to the public, but you can reserve a seat by purchasing a copy of the book here.
