WORD hosted Michael Ian Black on January 6, 2016. Great way to start off the new year-- with laughs!

Well, here we are. Deep in the depths of winter and in the month of love! We bring you events with Sally McKenney and Mast Brothers Chocolates to help with picking that perfect treat for your sweetheart on Valentine’s Day.

Events with comedians for kids and adults alike for some laughs in the cold with Broad Comedy duo Soren Kisiel and Katie Goodman and “My Wife Hates Me” podcasters Bonnie McFarlane and Rich Vos, respectively. Local Jersey boy and successful graphic novelist Kaz joins us with Chris T. of WFMU to discuss his beloved strip Underworld. We will keep you out of the winter doldrums for sure.

And, as always, if you'd like to get reminders via text you can join our "events class" at https://www.remind.com/join/eventsjc. You'll get one (at most, sometimes less) hand-crafted text a day with event information, through the magic of technology!

For comedy enthusiasts:
Bonnie McFarlane presents You're Better Than Me in conversation with Rich Vos
Thursday, February 25, 7:30 pm

It took Bonnie McFarlane a lot of time, effort, and tequila to get to where she is today. Before McFarlane starred on Last Comic Standing and directed her own films, she was an inappropriately loud tomboy growing up on her parents’ farm in Cold Lake, Canada. Desperate to find “her people”—the people who wouldn’t judge her because she was honest, ruthless, and okay, sometimes really rude—Bonnie turned to comedy. In her explosively funny and no-holds-barred memoir You're Better Than Me, Bonnie tells it like it is, and lays bare all of her smart decisions (and her not-so-smart decisions) on her way to finding her friends and her comedic voice, putting into words the feelings you’re too ashamed to admit to your friends, to your therapist, and even to yourself.

This event is free and open to the public. RSVP encouraged, but not required.
