CONCORD EPAN Working group meeting 

The EPAN (Enlargement, Pre-accession and Neighborhood) working group meeting will be held in the CONCORD premises, in Brussels in the afternoon of 10th December 2014, starting 3:00 pm. The working group meeting aims to set the group priorities for 2015, discuss strategies and ways forward for the group.

Engaging people: 12 lessons for communicating about development

The lessons are based on evidence and experience from Development Assistance Committee (DAC) peer reviews and from the Network of DAC Development Communicators, which the OECD Development Centre hosts and co-ordinates.

EFSG group online meeting - webinar

The EFSG (European Food Security Working Group) will meet through a webinar - a video-supported conference - in order to discuss:
- programme of the dialogue on food security and PCD, co-organized by CONCORD and DEVCO (to take place next year)

New Migration and Development Task Force: chair, steering group and work priorities

At the kick off meeting of CONCORD’s new Task Force on Migration and Development on 4 November, Bob van Dillen of Cordaid (NL) representing Caritas Europa was elected as Chair. The members of steering group were also elected and include: Tiguida Camara from FORIM representing  Coordination Sud (France), Udo Enwereuzor from COSPE representing Concord Italia, Salvatore Parata from Terre des Hommes, Sophia Wirsching from Brot für die Welt representing VENRO (Germany) and Jara Henar from Alianza por la Solidaridad (Spain).
The group is finalizing its Terms of reference and preparing a workplan for 2015. The TF workplan will be developed from the perspective of development and developing countries, prioritizing activities where Concord can add value from its mandate as a confederation of development NGOs. It was agreed that the 2015 European Year on Development, post-2015 process, EU Migration and development policies and PCD are strategic priorities in the coming year.

Online course "Planetary Boundaries and Human Opportunities"

The Stockholm Resilience Centre (SRC) and Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) launched their MOOC (massive open online course) titled Planetary Boundaries and Human Opportunities. The MOOC will feature lectures from top sustainability scientists, including Johan Rockström, and will run from November 17, 2014 to January 18, 2015.
 
The course contains eight different modules, covering key sustainability science topics, such as: the Anthropocene, social-ecological systems thinking, planetary boundaries, and resilience thinking. The MOOC is also designed to be as interactive as possible through online forum discussions with other students and teaching assistants, and a chance to ask the top scientists questions through scheduled video “hangouts.”

New SOLIDAR briefing: Taking Stock for a New European Neighborhood Policy: Decent Work, Social protection and Freedom of Association  

SOLIDAR presents the results of the consultation that was organised in cooperation with the Arab NGO Network for Development (ANND), members and partners from Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine and Tunisia.
In the week of 9 to 11 December, SOLIDAR together with ANND, EuroMed Platform, CONCORD, BankWatch, CNCD, Association of Local Development Agencies (ALDA) will be organising various activities in the European Parliament and the European Endowment for Democracy to prepare our input into the stock taking process. These events include round tables in the European Parliament on the future of the ENP and EU Trade Relations with the region.
