WFN’s Ultimate Fishing Town Contest

May 3, 2013

Grand Rapids, Minnesota made it into the finals of the World Fishing Network’s Ultimate Fishing Town Contest.  Visit Grand Rapids, the destination marketing organization, entered Grand Rapids, MN into the contest to promote the vast fishing opportunity that is available in the Grand Rapids area.  Only 11 communities with the top votes made it into the final round of voting.  The final voting round runs May 3th to May 24.
Grand Rapids has an opportunity at one of the cash prizes (Grand Prize: $25,000, and Five Regional Prizes: $3,500).  Each prize level is determined based on the highest number of votes per town and region.  Visit Grand Rapids has plans to use the prize winnings to further promote fishing in Minnesota’s nature (their community branding).  “We would love the opportunity to be able to highlight fishing more, and to be able to reach out to more advid anglers around the Midwest”, states Christianson.
To VOTE for Grand Rapids, MN log onto:  The first entry needs to be verified through an email account, and after this verification a person can vote up to 4 times a day.

Early Spring Fishing with Brian Brosdahl Early Season Fishing Provides Grand Opportunities

The late spring season has lakes opening approximately two weeks later than normal.  The late ice out has created an opportunity for visitors to captivate on early fishing well into May.

Early season fishing presents a unique opportunity to catch walleye and northern because they have not scattered and they are more concentrated in shallower water.  They will be spreading out in the next couple of weeks as the water temperatures increase.  “Spring is the opportunity to get in on some really hot walleye fishing”,
shares Tom Neustrom,

Warmer weather will bring a stronger pan fish bite.  Typically pan fish get more active as temperatures reach 50°c+.  We invite you to come experience fishing in Minnesota’s nature.  Check out our lake finder tool that will bring you right to the lake landings:
