The Zonta Club of Woodstock is proud to continue our partnership, since 2013, with Domestic Assault Review Team (D.A.R.T.) Oxford in the Zonta Says NO campaign.  D.A.R.T. Oxford is a committee of representatives from organizations that are “first responders” to acts of violence in Oxford County.  Such first responders are Woodstock Police Service, Ontario Provincial Police, three county hospitals, Domestic Abuse Service Oxford, Ingamo Home (2nd stage housing for abused women), Canadian Mental Health Association Oxford, Children’s Aid Society, Probation & Parole, Survivors’ Voices Oxford and others.

Zonta Says NO in our county of more than 100,000 residents is an awareness campaign about making local issues more visible to members of our community who are close to “at-risk” women and girls and can encourage and assist in connecting those in need to supportive resources available in Oxford County.

Throughout the campaign, Zonta members and participating partners will be dispersing ~2400 orange ribbons, and 500 cookies from College Avenue Secondary School’s Hospitality program, at specific locations in Oxford County. Our D.A.R.T. partners selected a significant date within the campaign that suits their agency and partner with a local business to increase awareness of our campaign.

INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR THE ELIMINATION OF VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN - Sunday November 25th
Domestic Abuse Services Oxford will be handing out ribbons, cookies and literature at Woodstock Community Centre from 1:15 – 2:05 p.m. during the scheduled Free Public Skate.

LIGHTING OF THE LIGHTS CAMPAIGN LAUNCH - Monday, November 26th
The lighting of lights in front of the Woodstock Police Services Office, 615 Dundas St. Woodstock, from 5:30 – 6:00 p.m. will launch our campaign.  This is a joint partnership between the Zonta Club of Woodstock, D.A.R.T. Oxford, and Survivors Voices Oxford to bring to this community the United Nations Secretary-General’s UNiTE to End Violence against Women ‘Orange Day’ campaign and the purple ‘Shine the Light’ on Woman Abuse public awareness campaign of the London Abused Women’s Centre.  This simple, yet dramatic lighting of lights at D.A.R.T. Oxford agencies and partnering businesses in Oxford County on this date and other evenings during the campaign will bring awareness of the ongoing issue of violence against women and girls in our community.

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN HUMAN RIGHTS DEFENDERS DAY - Thursday, November 29th
Oxford OPP (Ingersoll and Tillsonburg) will offer a campaign display at their detachment and handing out ribbons, cookies and safety literature.
