Forest Hill Library - Party and Fundraiser

Saturday, 10th December 2016

It has been just over a month since our community consortium started running the Forest Hill Library as a community library - with the help and support of so many local people. We are very proud of all we have achieved together thus far, and although there have been many challenges, we are positive for the future.

In the last two months we have been raising money through crowdfunding and this surpassed our expectations with a total of £10,310 raised through donations from more than 200 people in the local community. But we still need more funds to make Forest Hill Community Library something really special.

The Library is hosting a Christmas Auction & Reception as a fundraiser to help with the next steps of running the library. There are some great items on auction, local young people are helping to decorate for the party, there will be live music, champagne, canapes and good cheer in a celebration of a momentous year for the Forest Hill Community.
The event is on Saturday the 10th of December and will take place across the Louise House Laundry and the Library. Tickets are available here for £25 per person.

Bell Green Consultation

Plans to build a Aldi supermarket and additional retail in the land currently housing the gasometers. There is a public exhibition on Wednesday 7th and Saturday 10th December.

Southern Railways Consultation for 2018

We would like to encourage you to take a few minutes to respond to the Southern Railway 2018 Timetable Consultation.

These proposals include:
a) Diverting all our East Croydon services to West Croydon - making it take longer to get to Gatwick and other destinations in Sussex.
b) Reducing our peak services to London Bridge to four trains an hour (the same capacity as the rest of the day). These services would be replaced by five carriage Overground trains to Dalston Junction.
c) Increasing services via Crofton Park to four trains per hour

To help you respond to the large number of questions, we have compiled a list of the nine questions we believe you should answer, with some explanation of each.

View our guide to responding to this survey here.
