Strategic Governance, Risk & Reputation Management News
Strategic Governance, Risk & Reputation News
June 11, 2014

Greetings,

June has come in with a roar for us at GEC Risk with multiple client and educational events taking place almost simultaneously. Last week we successfully engaged in, oversaw or contributed to, a "Supply Chain in and out of China" Webcast, two Corporate Compliance Council workshops - one on risk management and the other on conflicts of interest management, and a very successful, well attended and diverse annual Global Strategic & Enterprise Risk Management Conference, all for The Conference Board where Jacqueline E. Brevard, Senior Advisor to GEC Risk, and I are Program Directors.

The primary focus now is on Madrid, Spain, where GEC Risk and our strategic partner, Impact on Integrity, are holding a one day interactive executive workshop on "Integrity, Risk & Reputation" on June 17th. The leading Spanish law firm, Garrigues, is our host for this workshop for senior executives, board members and business people. Seats are still available: http://www.gecrisk.com/resources/ If you have colleagues or friends in Spain and Europe who might be interested in attending please let them know!

In anticipation of our workshop, Murray Grainger and I co-authored an op-ed for Spain's leading business daily, FT's Expansion, for which we wrote about the "Seven Valuable Virtues of Intelligent Corporate Responsibility" (in a twist on the seven deadly sins concept). You can find the link to download this article in this newsletter.

Also, FT's Agenda, a publication for boards and directors, interviewed me for a piece on FCPA enforcement in which I was able to share some great experiences I had almost 20 years ago creating a then uncommon but very robust FCPA program for interntional power company, PSEG Global, where I was general counsel and chief ethics and compliance officer.

Lastly, I will be putting the final touches on a new book I am writing which is due my publisher, DŌ Sustainability, very shortly. If all goes well, The Reputation Risk Handbook: A Guide for Managers and Directors, will be coming out in the late summer.

Have a great start to the summer (or winter if you're due south!).

FCPA ENFORCEMENT PUTS FIXERS IN THE SPOTLIGHT

Melissa Anderson, FT Agenda, June 9, 2014 Interview

Andrea Bonime-Blanc, CEO of GEC Risk Advisory, was interviewed for the article by Melissa Anderson in the June 9, 2014, edition of FT's Agenda Week, a publication for boards and directors. In referencing the importance of a robust global anti-corruption program, she is quoted as saying: “Companies that are driving a robust reputation management system that puts integrity into strategy in addition to all the bells and whistles necessary to develop financial profits and revenues — those will be the great companies of tomorrow."
