Yes, that's US Attorney General, Jeff Sessions, talking to Pat Harned, Executive Director of the ECI, this week in Washington DC. The ECI mounted an exceptional Annual Conference in DC this week, featuring a fireside chat with the Attorney General (followed by a roundtable of former Deputy Attorneys General) in which the AG committed to continuing enforcement of the FCPA as well as support for the DOJ Fraud Division's work in supporting the development of effective corporate ethics and compliance programs. This is a hopeful sign.
We are experiencing a global ethics paradox - in a world where ethics and related concepts (like transparency and democracy) seem to be under increasing attack in some ways, in others, it seems as if a broad spectrum of stakeholders (including customers, shareholders and citizens generally) are demanding more ethics and more transparency than ever before. In our own small slice of the world, we are seeing a resurgence of interest in and work on practical ethical culture, business strategy and leadership issues. We hope you are too!
We have some exciting developments and resources to share with you this month:
Jacqueline E. Brevard and I (and GEC Risk) are honored to to have been selected by the ECI as their preferred provider for the relaunched Leading Professionals in Ethics & Compliance (LPEC) Certification Program - focused on the ECI's High Quality Principles (HQP) of an Ethics & Compliance Program. We did our first cohort of 32 international experienced E&C professionals this past week in Washington D.C. and had a blast.
I will be in Dallas on May 9th speaking on an NACD Texas sponsored panel on "Cyber-Risk Oversight". I hope my friends in the area might be able to come. Details below.
We have two new publications to share with you - one is an updated guide Jacquie and I co-edited and co-wrote for the UN Global Compact on "Anti-Corruption in the Supply Chain" and the other on "Seeing Opportunity in Reputation Risk" for the current NACD Directorship Magazine co-written with my good friend and collaborator, CSR expert, Jeff Hoffman.
My book, Manual de Riesgo Reputacional can now be ordered on Amazon and Amazon Spain - see links to order below.
We look forward to hearing from you. If you have any questions or suggestions on any of the above, do not hesitate to reach out at abonimeblanc@gecrisk.com.
Cheers,
Andrea
