If it's July it must be time for Brazil - at least for GEC Risk. We are a proud supporting sponsor and panelist for Ethisphere's Second Annual Latin America Ethics Summit taking place in Sao Paulo July 16-17. In fact, we arrive the day after the World Soccer Cup finals - hopefully the mood is good! Check out the details of the conference and if you can make it be sure to register here and use this discount code:

Mary C. Gentile, whom many of you know for her groundbreaking "Giving Voice to Values" work, and I have co-authored the first ever piece on GVV in the boardroom - please take a look at the summary in this newsletter and visit the GEC Risk website to download a copy of the magazine.

June was a busy and exciting month for GEC Risk. The centerpiece was our trip to and work in Spain including for a leading global Spanish company and the first ever "Integrity Risk & Reputation" Executive Workshop with our strategic partner in Spain, Murray Grainger, Managing Director and Founder of Impact on Integrity. The location and host - Garrigues -- were first class and the feedback was excellent. We captured the day of interactions with 25 senior Spanish executives in a useful visual chronology created by InkyThinking and available for viewing here:

We are planning a similar "Integrity Risk & Reputation" Executive Workshop for New York City, hosted by E&Y at their headquarters in Times Square -- be sure to block your calendars for the entire morning of September 12, 2014. Details and registration coming soon.

In June, we completed presentations and panels including a webcast with our strategic partner in Shanghai, Michael Hickman of Haiwen & Partners, on "Supply Chain in and out of China", two Corporate Compliance Council workshops with our colleague Jacqueline E.  Brevard, and organized a successful, well attended and diverse annual Global Strategic & Enterprise Risk Management Conference, for The Conference Board.

Throughout July, I will be putting the final touches on my manuscript for my publisher, DŌ Sustainability. If all goes well, The Reputation Risk Handbook: A Practical Guide for Managers, Executives and Boards, will be out as scheduled in late September.

I wish everyone in the summery northern hemisphere a great summer and those in the wintery southern half one that isn't too cold or too wet!

"Giving Voice to Values in the Boardroom: Strategies to Enable Risky Conversations"

Andrea Bonime-Blanc &
Mary C. Gentile

Mary C. Gentile, creator of the globally acclaimed and widely used "Giving Voice to Values" book, curriculum and system, and member of the GEC Risk Advisory Council, and Andrea Bonime-Blanc, co-authored a piece that elevates the "Giving Voice to Values" framework for the first time to the highest level of an organization -- the Board -- and arguably the most important when it comes to enabling conversations about sensitive, risky and difficult conversations. Using a hypothetical scenario, the authors dissect ways in which a board member can approach such a challenging boardoom conversation. Available here:

June 9, 2014 Interview

Andrea Bonime-Blanc was interviewed for the article by Melissa Anderson in the June 9, 2014, edition of FT's Agenda Week, a publication for boards and directors.
