Filming “Path Without End”; recording Elder Edna Manitowabi

Principal photography completed!

Path Without End
Christine Friday (Algonquin-Cree) and I filmed her and her family at Friday’s Point on Lake Temagami with Director of Photography Sean Stiller (Secwepemc) and Executive Producer Paula Devonshire (Mohawk).
We were there in the midst of multiple forest fires and we ended up evacuating one day early because of the smoke. Fortunately the fire passed Bear Island and the people of Temagami First Nation are safe.

Black box theatre residency at Nozhem then green screen filming, to go where no Indigenous dance doc has gone before...

Song for “Ecstasy”

Elder Edna Manitowabi (Anishinaabe) offered one of her songs for use in the film “Ecstasy.” We recorded yesterday in the chapel at The Mount (where the residential school portion of “Indian Horse” was filmed) with sound recordist Stephen Lorne (“Red Card World: Migizikwe” & “Path Without End”). Looking forward weaving it into the sound design.
