Andy, Ali, Atman, and the rest of the Holistic Life crew

From August 11th to the 19th, we were down in North Carolina on our Workforce Development retreat with a handful of young men around the ages of 20-22. In the beautiful, scenic mountains, we camped, cooked, and meditated. We practiced asanas, pranayama, and kriyas. We did some Kundalini work, and we had many meaningful talks and discussions about yoga, mindfulness, and life. This is just the surface of everything we covered during this time of exploration and being with ourselves.

We were joined by one of our friends from college, our teacher Uncle Will, and Ali and Atman's dad Mert, who shared with us their insights on living the yogic lifestyle. Ali, Andy, and Atman spoke about representing the Holistic Life Foundation, as some of these guys are currently teaching for us and others will soon follow. Together, we planted a cumulative 2,500 broccoli plants for a new friend in the south who was very grateful for the help of a group of energetic, strong young men.

While many people believe that most of our work is done with youth, we also strive to share our other efforts working with those in incarceration, in juvenile detention centers, in nursing homes, at college, and in psychiatric facilities. This retreat was a great chance for our boys to connect with themselves, with each other, and with their purpose in bringing yoga and mindfulness to each of these under-served communities.
