Volunteer Opportunities

Cone Collections

Pine nuts ripened this month. We collected cones from 25 western white pines at Stagecoach, Northstar, Mount Rose and Angora for blister rust testing. We hope to find at least one more seed tree. So far, we have identified 1 MGR (major gene resistant) tree at Kirkwood and 3 at Heavenly.

Some of our restoration sites include Tahoe Donner, Royal Gorge and Northstar. Currently, we plant about 1000 western white pines per year.  If you know of a good planting site, we are always looking for more!

International Growth

People all over the world wonder if they are able to grow sugar pines. Take a look at this short article on how one our seedlings grew into this cute seedling in Russia!

Clear n' Clean Waters!

Help find Eurasion milfoil and curlyleaf pondweed while you play in the water! Check out this short video showing on how you can keep Lake Tahoe clean.
