DEFINITION MOMENT!
HEBRAIC THOUGHT MOMENT!??!
Greek "Believe" = Hebrew "Shema = OBEY!"
This is gonna mess with your mind and religious believes. This will, most likely, be controversial. BE NICE in your comments and give honor and respect.
The GREATEST and FIRST Commandment per Yeshua is SHEMA - LISTEN - OBEY! The FOUNDATION is in Torah - Deut. 6:4 and reiterated by Yeshua in the ReNEWed Covenant/Testament - Matthew 22:34-39 and Mark 12:28 - 34.

As I was in a "Christian" Church building last night for the first time in a long time (as "WE ARE the CHURCH - CALLED OUT ONES - ECCLESIA"); and as I was listening to the song "God So Loved the World," I pondered.
The Ruach brought the word "BELIEVE" to the forefront and I was compelled to find the definition in the Greek and then root it back to the Hebrew. With some basic knowledge of Hebrew and an ever growing Hebraic mindset, I had a huge hunch that the word "believe" had been watered down and the understanding was totally missed by modern day Christianity. Assuredly, the early church Believers would have had the mindset, culture and language to KNOW what it meant -- even in Greek.
So, when I got home I looked up the word in John 3:16. And DONTCHA KNOW IT ---- it's rooted to SHEMA - OBEY -- which is the GREATEST and FIRST COMMANDMENT!
IF you believe, then you TRUST and you WAIT on Heavenly Father because you KNOW He knows best (for you personally and mankind).
To BELIEVE is to TRUST and WAIT which is to OBEY - to SHEMA.
“Believe” is NOT just a THOUGHT but an outward DEMONSTRATION of such in our actions and obedience.
Joh 3:16 For Elohim/God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever SHEMA/Believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Joh 3:17 For Elohim/God sent not His Son into the world to condemn/judge the world; but that the world through him might be saved/delievered/protected/made whole/preserved/healed.
Joh 3:18 He that SHEMA/Believeth on Him is not condemned: but he that believeth/SHEMA/OBEY not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name/SHeM (PCA - POWER, CHARACTER, & AUTHORITY) of the only begotten Son of God.
Torah is the FOUNDATION/CAKE of our Covenant with YHWH and the ReNEWed Covenant Witness Testament IS the ICING on the CAKE! When there is no foundation/cake, there is NO place to put the icing. It will just lay there and, most likely, melt, and though sweet, it will not contain anything that satiates and nourishes our spirit and nephesh/soul.
American Greco-Roman Believers are only wanting the sweet icing and no substance and it reflects in our lives, words, deeds, and physical, emotional and spiritual health.
