Tell Us a Bit About You.
I was born in Johannesburg, South Africa and immigrated to the U.S. over 30 years ago.  Even though I have been here a long time, I am still very connected to my place of birth and travel there often.   I have a deep spiritual connection, and am a dedicated husband and father of three wonderful children.  I love to play with my friends.  I love to dance.  I love this life and the sweet nectar it offers.

What is the work you do in the world?
I am a serial entrepreneur, having been involved in many businesses over the years.  My primary vocation over the past 10 years has been real estate development, building residential and industrial communities around the world.  Aside from my work at the Emerald Village, I am the Co-Founder of the Station Co-Lab, a holistic wellness center and community space in Carlsbad, California.  I am also involved in the Campus of Life, a 228 unit residential and educational community in Scripps Ranch, California.  I am a partner in an organic seed company called Lineage Seeds.   I love teaching, and have been training individuals on how to achieve financial health for many years.

How does living in community support or inform your presence in the world?
Living in community is similar to traveling.  Just like traveling exposes one to different people, strange cultures,  and interesting perspectives, so too does living in community.  You never know who is going to be staying in the guest house, or who will sit across the table at a community meal.  These meaningful interactions have given me (and my children) a much wider perspective of what is “normal” and acceptable.  At some point, I woke up to the fact that we are all part of a global family and I began to see the world through the lens of collaboration rather than competition.  As a result, I have been moving out of the great scarcity paradigm where "there is not enough", and "more is better”, to a place of sufficiency where there is enough for everyone.

What is your greatest lesson in living in community.
The greatest lesson I have learned living in community was shifting the paradigm from “me” to  “we”.  To place the health and wellness of the organism as high as the health of the individual.  To live in harmony and balance with the environment, rather than  over consuming for personal gain alone.

Join us for Brunch and Landwork

First Sunday Open Brunch and Power Hour

We would like to invite you to join us for brunch and to help with land work on the first Sunday of every month.  Land power hour begins at 10:00 am.  During this time we work to grow food by spending time in the garden, planting seeds, harvesting, and weeding as well as caring for the animals in our husbandry program.  Bring a hat and gloves and come play with us in the gardens.  Potluck brunch to follow at 11:00 am and then a tour of the Emerald Village.
This photos was taken in the Springtime by Mario Covic.  It is one of our flowering peach trees in our growing food forest.
