“The Colors of Winter” Opening Reception This Sunday

The artworks are up and we are ready for visitors as of 5:30 p.m. today. It's been a busy month getting everything ready for our newest adventure in Tarzana, a joint exhibition with the San Fernando Valley Art Club. As we mentioned before, we are very excited about this new opportuntiy.

The show is set to open on Wednesday, with the artist's reception scheduled for Sunday, December 11th from 5 - 8 p.m. There are over 40 artists represented between the two associations and more than 125 works of art, so, you won't want to miss it! The show runs through December 20th. See the attached postcard graphic for gallery hours and directions and please, share it with your friends. We are hoping for an epic turnout of visitors to kick off this festive holiday season.

President’s Message

Greetings to all our new and long time members,

We would like to thank Mina Ho Ferrante for her beautiful demonstration of creating a still life in oil at the November association meeting. From first drawing to final touches to the lovely painting, she made it look so easy to be creative in oil. She is truly a gifted artist and teacher. Congratulations to Dulcie Adams, who was the lucky winner of the demo painting in the raffle drawing.

We are looking forward to our Dec. 8th meeting with 3 set-ups, a “paint around”, in which all of us can participate. First you will be able to work on a watercolor, then an oil, and the third will be collage. We will be exchanging $10.00 gifts, everyone who brings a gift will get a number, which will be drawn raffle style for gifts. Also please bring a favorite holiday food to share for our party. And finally we will raffle off our collective creations. Count on a fun filled evening with good food and entertaining friends!

Our shared show at the San Fernando Valley Arts and Culture Center is shaping up nicely and will be completed this week. Our opening is on Sunday, December 11, 2016, at 18312 Oxnard St., Tarzana, CA 91356, from 5 to 8 p.m. You will enjoy a lovely gallery with lots of parking, an exciting show with new people to meet from the San Fernando Valley Art Club.

Stay tuned to news about our next model session at BMAI in January. The tentative date is Jan. 19th. We are already working on our next show at the McGroarty Art Center for March of 2017, so keep painting new works for new shows.

Be sure to get your new GAA ID card when you pay your membership dues, which will be valid till the end of 2017.

See you at our next meeting on December 8th in the Citibank basement meeting room for our party. Citibank is located at: 2350 Honolulu Ave., Montrose, CA. The meeting room entrance is located in the back of the building off of the alley.

Sincerely,
Diane M. Carter.
