09/28/2016 LICKING COUNTY, OHIO – The Licking County Health Department (LCHD) was honored to receive a $3,426.30 donation from the local service group Women In Service Everyday (WISE). The funds were raised as a result of their August 13 Duck Race fundraising event. WISE members Jenny Morehead and Vicki Miller presented the donation to Licking County Health Commissioner, Joe Ebel, during this month’s Board of Health meeting on September 20.

100 percent of the Duck Race fundraiser donation is benefiting two local LCHD programs. $1,713.15 is being allocated to the Third Grade Partners in Wellness Program, where students are introduced to the importance of a healthy lifestyles and making the right choices through interactive activities, experiments, videos and role-playing. The other half of the donation, $1,713.15, will benefit the LCHD Child Passenger Safety Program, which provides infant and child car seats to low-income families in need. Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians train parents on proper installation and use of the seats and ensure the seats are properly secured in the car.

The Licking County Health Department graciously accepted the donation from WISE in order to further provide health promotion and disease and injury prevention services to the Licking County community. For more information about WISE, find them on Facebook.
