Grant Awarded for Children’s Wellness Education
03/09/2016 LICKING COUNTY, OHIO – The Granville Community Foundation awarded the Licking County Health Department $2,500 in February 2016 through its community grant program. Funds will be used to support the implementation of the Partners in Wellness (PIW) program in Granville schools in the 2016-2017 school year. PIW offers third-grade children free comprehensive wellness education encompassing physical, social and emotional health.

In Granville, the PIW program is offered to 175 third-grade students enrolled in Granville Elementary and Granville Christian Academy. Grant funds will be used to purchase educational materials such as program notebooks, dental kits, physical activity kits, summer sun safety kits and more. Children receive these items as encouragement to remember the lessons and share what they have learned with others.

Grants from local organizations such as the Granville Community Foundation allow the Licking County Health Department to educate children about making healthy choices. Approximately 1,900 Licking County third graders participate in the PIW program in all 12 Licking County school districts.

For more information about PIW please visit http://www.lickingcohealth.org/.
