ZF Minor Grants Program Launched - Apply Today!

This Minor Grants Program is intended to complement the Major Grants program (aka Zcash Community Grants) by providing a source of funding for smaller grants. This program will also create a channel for grant applications that are not directly Zcash-related but explore broader applications of zero-knowledge proofs or other approaches to financial privacy, in line with our charitable purpose.

Details about the application process and FAQs can be viewed here. Please contact minorgrants@zfnd.org with questions.

The deadline to submit this Minor Grants application is 9:00 UTC on Monday, 20th March. Good luck!

First Testnet Block Mined!

Here's the first Zcash testnet block mined using a block template generated by Zebra, our Rust implementation of Zcash.  A small but significant step towards our goal of a second Zcash node implementation!

More information about Zebra can be found at this link, and additional information regarding the testnet block can be found here.

Welcome Natalie!

We are pleased to announce that Natalie E. has joined the Zcash Foundation as a Core Engineer.

Natalie has previously worked on the OTRv4 cryptographic messaging protocol at ThoughtWorks, and has built decentralized, democracy-enhancing open source tools for the European Commission. Natalie believes that privacy is a fundamental human right, and is excited to join the Zcash Foundation’s Engineering team, and contribute to building privacy-preserving infrastructure.

Natalie’s initial focus will be on FROST, as we work towards making it possible to use threshold signatures with shielded Zcash.

Community Call: Overview of Tendermint/IBC/Cosmos Stack with Christopher Goes

ZF was joined by Christopher Goes of Heliax to give a high-level overview of Tendermint (as a standalone alternative to PoW) and the Cosmos/IBC stack (as a potential platform for Zcash to migrate to). We discussed what the implications would be if Zcash were to adopt Tendermint or migrate to Cosmos/IBC. Click here to watch the video.
