With new luxury all-inclusive resorts opening - among them Hyatt Ziva Cancun, Grand Velas Los Cabos and Secrets Akumal, in addition to spectacular new cruise products celebrating maiden voyages including the Regent Seven Seas Explorer (touted to be the most luxurious cruise ship ever built), the Crystal Esprit yacht (complete with submarines), the redesigned Crystal Mozart (revolutionizing the river ship market), the RCCL Harmony of the Seas (the largest ship ever to be built), Silversea's Silver Muse, Seabourn Encore and the Norwegian Escape - there is so much to celebrate. 2015 was one of the best years ever for the incentive travel industry around the globe. And, 2016 is projected to be another banner year, according to the 2015 Society for Incentive Travel Excellence (SITE) Index Benchmark Study, an annual analysis and forecast of the incentive travel industry, released this week.
Slight increase in budgets
Overall, both buyers and sellers report a slight increase in incentive travel budgets over the past year with a median spend per participant of around $3,400. And, many companies are planning to increase their budgets, and the number of eligible participants, in the next 12 months.....
The bar is rising
.... Seven in ten sellers report they are currently developing new and more creative ways to add value for their customers.
Faith and belief are basis for most ROI acceptance
.... an even greater challenge to the industry’s health is how many companies assess the effectiveness of their incentive travel programs - more on belief than on metrics.... Regent Seven Seas Cruises Announces $125 Million Fleet-Wide Renovation: Beginning with Seven Seas Navigator this spring, the public spaces and suites to be refurbished will feature the same elegant style and indisputable attention to detail famously featured on Seven Seas Explorer, providing guests with a consistent look-and-feel, no matter which Regent Seven Seas Cruises ship they choose to sail.
The World's First Discovery Yacht, the Scenic Eclipse: River cruise operator Scenic will make its foray into ocean cruising with the launch of Scenic Eclipse, a 228-passenger yacht. The Eclipse will embark on her maiden voyage on August 2018, sailing from Istanbul to Venice, and discovery voyages to The Americas.
Norwegian Cruise Line $400 Million Investment Plan: New program will invest in enhancing the guest experience through a full fleet refurbishment, a new culinary program and two premier private island destinations. Norwegian will also be expanding the new specialty dining menus that debuted on Norwegian Escape across the fleet.
RCCL Harmony Of The Seas Sets: All-New Shows, Original Productions and More:The innovative global cruise line is pulling back the curtain on the unexpected entertainment offerings that come together onboard Harmony of the Seas – from the hot summer nights of Broadway’s hit musical Grease, to high-tech, high-definition ice shows in Studio B and jaw-dropping, high-flying, immersive performances at the oceanfront AquaTheater, and, for the first time, Puzzle Break, an interactive, problem solving group activity, is in a dedicated, fully-produced space, fit for a Hollywood studio where guests are challenged to Escape the Rubicon, and so much more.
Empress Of The Seas Heads To Miami For Short Caribbean Getaways: Royal Caribbean International brings short Caribbean getaways to a whole new level when the newly-enhanced Empress of the Seas returns to the fleet in March 2016. Upon her return Empress will have a whole new look and feel that will extend to the ship's staterooms as well. Empress will head to Miami giving guests the chance to get away from it all and enjoy a lively, casual, laid-back atmosphere while visiting some of the Caribbean’s most popular islands.
AmaWaterways Changes The Game With Three New Ships: Typically, European river cruises are recommended for adult-only incentive programs. Cabins are equipped with king beds, convertible to two twins – making it tough to bring children along…..until AMA changed the game! Introducing a first in the river ship industry – the AmaKristina, AmaViola and AmaStella. This trio of elegant river “ladies”, debuting in 2016 and 2017 will make it possible to include additional family members with 20 triple/quad beds available for use onboard.
New start at Hyatt Ziva
The 591-suite, all-inclusive Hyatt Ziva reopened on Sept. 15, a year and a day after Hurricane Odile flattened Los Cabos on Sept. 14, 2014.
"Everything is new now," said Francisco Silva, general manager. " The repair and reconstruction project resulted in changes and additions to the property, whose design reflects a distinctive Baja feel with indigenous woodcarvings, handcrafted mosaics and architectural details that celebrate the region.
The Hyatt Ziva boasts the largest convention space in Los Cabos, and groups have a separate meetings and events lobby adjacent to the 35,000 square feet of conference space, none of which intrudes upon the leisure areas.
