Thank you for standing with us as partners in the work of the kingdom this past year. It has been filled with adventures and amazing fruit, from getting our overland truck stuck deep in the mud to Ben breaking his arm, to opening a primary school for 500 children! Here's an overview of an amazing year in malawi....
BUT before we do:
Future Dates: UK visit this year
We are excited to be coming back to the UK for 3 months this year and getting the chance to connect and share what God has been up to in our lives and yours...
April 25- July 18
"Since the beginning of creation, there has not been a school in this village, but God has not forgotten us". Declared the Chief of Chiwaya village at the opening ceremony of Thantwe primary school in September. It was wonderful have so many come and acknowledge what God has done, with local MPs, visiting supporters and even the Traditional Authority all declaring God's goodness. Opening the Christian primary school for the 530 primary kids of chiwaya was the biggest project we have been part together with you since we started in Africa 10+ years ago. The school now has 15 teachers, we really like the new headmaster, and Chris and Mike are doing a fantastic job of training and supporting and bringing Godly values in this place.
The school of evangelism has graduated 7 amazing students at YWAM blantyre last week! It’s been amazing watching them these last 5 months grow from disciples to fishermen to leaders of the church in evangelism to being equipping evangelists training and releasing churches and helping them to start evangelize and reach their communities regularly. We are so proud of Sungani, the school leader who went to Uganda to train and bring the school here. The next one starts July 2019! Come and join us!
AFRICAN IMPACT DTS
This was our second year of running 2 DTS'. The African Impact DTS runs from April - Oct. The message that this is Malawi, and Africa’s time to go to the nations was clear and powerful through these young people
LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT COURSE
"you don't learn from experience, you learn from evaluated experience"- This 6 week leadership course was an amazing opportunity to gather our leaders and evaluate our life experience, leadership understanding and team skills.
JUSTICE HOUSE OF PRAYER DTS
This amazing group of passionate young people have finished their lectures and headed out in smaller groups to Kenya, Tanzania and Malawi for outreach. Please keep them in your prayers
In August this year, Daniel flew to Devon UK to be the main speaker at the Bush camp. He shared his heart on walking with God and loving and discipling others. Many people met with God in a new way, and Holy Spirit courage, faith and fire. Thank you so much for your prayers for this event.
As God continues to bless us as a base and ministry we have the best problem of continually running out of accomodation space. So we have built a house for Lizzie a new YWAM staff from the USA and are building 3 more rooms for the rest of us. The base need to raise funds for this so please keep us in your prayers.
Also this year YWAM in Mankhamba hosted the Malawi national leaders gathering for the first time - Thank you Patrick and Patience. It was a wonderful time of meeting together, feedback and meeting with God. It was exciting to be talking about future vision: planning for our future in Malawi and the nations. One promising development was the YWAM bases together agreeing to start a "wave fund" to help give to Malawians as they set off to be missionaries in unreached places.
ENDING BIBLE POVERTY
Ending bible poverty in Malawi has launched again this month with Chris Scutt getting the app up and running and Robert and Benito out this week giving marks gospels. Map of the distribution progress to follow soon. Also this year, the YWAM Malawi national leaders gathering - Thank you Patrick and Patience for hosting us at YWAM Mankhamba. It was a wonderful time of meeting together and with God, and of feedback. It was exciting to be meeting together and talking future vision, planning for our future in Malawi and the nations. One promising development was the nations YWAM bases together agreeing to start a "wave fund" to help give to Malawians as they set off to be missionaries in unreached places.
OUR TRUCK ADVENTURE
As I'm sure you remember our year got off to a rather dramatic start when our overland truck got stuck in the mud for several days, followed swiftly by Benjamin breaking the bones in his elbow. it was in all honesty very stressful, but also beautiful to be part of a team that pulled together in an incredible way and see many in the area give their lives to Jesus...
Along with visiting YWAM African teams, we have been so blessed this year to have several wonderful teams visiting from the UK, visiting from Testwood Baptist from the New Forest, and Living Stones and Gateway from Eastbourne. Their timing was perfect in the lead up to the opening of Thantwe school, and their willingness to serve and help get the school ready and open... thank you friends :)
