Trellech Village Hall Newsletter, November 2016
Trellech Village Hall Newsletter

Welcome to November's edition...

Well, you started reading this email and I bet you've just been kicking through the leaves in your garden or at the very least, thinking about it.  We're so lucky to be living in an area that shows autumn off at its best!
There's a lot to report this month - a trip to Bath Christmas Market (only a handful of tickets left), the TCF Seniors Christmas lunch, Take-over Trellech Teas, plus we have some feedback on the very successful 7th Annual Apple Day last month. Oh, and don't forget our little thank you celebration for all those volunteers, tradesmen, users of the hall, and community to mark the completion (well, nearly!) of the hall's renovations.

So, grab a cuppa and read on....

Best wishes,

Christopher Edwards
On behalf of the Trellech Babington Educational Trust

The day was very much themed on the humble apple with a popular cash prize competition to find 'Monty the Maggot' in a specially designed apple, and a large array of raffle prizes kindly donated by individuals and businesses in the area. A large crowd of visitors attended between 11am and 3pm to taste the cider made from last year's apple crop.

Visitors also enjoyed the vast range of dishes provided by Sue Flower and volunteer kitchen staff. The apple press was busy outside pressing apples ably assisted by youngsters Lyra Swayne age 3, Max Swayne age 7, Charlotte Edwards age 5, and Henry Edwards age 3.

Thanks to all those who came along and made it a day of fun for all the family!
From 6:30pm - Bonfire, fireworks, hot food and of course...the usual licensed bar at Llanishen Village Hall, Trellech United, Monmouthshire.

(Trellech Teas opens every Friday at the Babington from 2pm to 4.30pm)

Our Halloween themed tea last month was a great success. The Teas went a bit spooky for Halloween with pumpkin brownies, a 'death by chocolate' cake decorated with a spider (maybe a black widow?) and we even persuaded Gladys to wear a witches hat.

This month we have a return of the Take-over Teas and Home-Start Monmouthshire will be taking over Trellech Teas on 18th November at 2pm - all proceeds will be donated to this excellent charity that supports struggling families.

We are also looking for new helpers for serving and baking (if you can only serve or only bake that would also be much appreciated). If you are able to, please contact Margaret Morris on 01600 860906 or email: or Jean Hughes on 01600 869054 or email:

Wine, food and a big thank you
A very informal evening for the whole community!
Defibrillator Training in November

There is a defibrillator on the outside wall of Trellech Stores and there are also others situated throughout the seven communities of Trellech United.  Trellech United Community Council have arranged training sessions with the Welsh Ambulance NHS Trust, which will cover cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) techniques and also when/how to use the defibrillator. The course is free of charge and will be held at the two above venues.
Every Friday
2:00pm - 4:30pm

Every Friday afternoon you can come along and enjoy proper tea, coffee and homemade cakes. Everyone is invited to attend. Trellech Teas is a friendly place - you'll never be left to sit alone. If you need a lift and live close by, please let us know.
We are always in need of people to make cakes for us and if you fancy helping out at Trellech Teas you could join the ranks of the Trellech Tea Ladies (or Gents!). Please contact us if you'd like to find out more.
Hope to see you on Friday!
