June 2015 Newsletter:
Planning for Summer

Dear Readers,

Summer is quickly approaching and we couldn't be more excited! Now, we know we live in a climate where we can do most summer activities all year round. However, not all of us are brave enough to go camping on a snowy mountain or swimming during the cooler, rainy months. So we're counting down to the days of BBQ's, fresh berries, bountiful gardens, summer reading, evening walks and bike rides, hammock napping, wildflowers, and more. Long story short, the arrival of summer is a big deal at our office!

In preparation for summer, we've spent the past month gearing up for what looks to be a really busy and exciting season. From the KinFarm Family Drop-In, which will offer hours of fun gardening and cooking activities for families, the return of KinPark Kids' Summer Camp, which will run from July 6 to August 28, to our 6th annual Edible Garden & Farm Tour, we'll have plenty of activities on hand to keep ourselves and our community busy.

YeT, before the summer officially begins, CGC will host our Annual General Meeting (AGM). Typically we've held this event on the summer solstice. However, as solstice falls on a Sunday this year, we decided to break tradition and host the event a few days prior. This change does not mean the format of the event has been altered. We are proud to host unconventional AGM's and are happy that this year's event will hold true to that commitment. Featuring a local foods community potluck with Transition Cowichan and a presentation by Ann and Gord Baird of Eco-Sense, we invite the community to join us for an evening of good food and learning. The guest presentation and potluck are open to the public. Donations towards the presentation and contributions to the potluck are most welcome.

Wishing you a great month ahead.

In Gratitude,
The CGC Team
