Where and When to Find Your Student

Students will be on and off the field throughout the eclipse based on stamina, curriculum, and safety considerations. If you are a parent joining your student on Monday, see below for times and locations. Due to the high number of guests, parents will not be invited into classrooms, but are welcome to join the viewing party in the Cafeteria when students are not on the field.

Plan to bring blankets, chairs, water bottles, sun screen, and a few dollars for snacks. As with all events on campus, be considerate of our Forrest Blvd neighbors when parking, and follow the signs.

Opting Out
Any student who chooses not to view the eclipse outside can view the NASA live streaming in the Cafeteria.

Dismissal

Parents can sign their student out directly from their teacher. Regular dismissal will begin at 3:30pm. A change in your students regular dismissal plan (going home with a friend) must be submitted in writing to their classroom teacher.

Safety

Students and staff will be provided NASA-certified safe viewing glasses. Please speak with your student about the danger of looking at the sun without their glasses, and following teacher's instructions at all times.

Help Monitor Safe Viewing
Students put their glasses on before looking up at the sun, and look down to take them off. Parents, please help monitor for safe viewing throughout the event. Tip for younger students: practice at home this weekend with sun glasses indoors.

Playground Equipment is Off Limits
For safety, the playground will be closed to all students from 1pm - 3:30pm. At no time should a student be using the playground, even with a parent present.

Our Glasses are Certified Safe for Direct Solar Viewing
Our glasses were purchased directly from Rainbow Symphony and meet the standard for ISO 12312-2:2015.
