Dr. Bruce Tychinski is Professor of Trombone at the University of Delaware where he teaches applied lessons, trombone pedagogy and literature, directs the trombone choir and UD Slides jazz trombone ensemble, and hosts an annual Trombone Day event.

What keeps you playing with NSO?
The love for music.  Our orchestra members share a passion for music that's contagious.

What other activities do you enjoy?
Cooking and spending time with my wife and daughters, officially nine and three quarters, and five and half years old as they remind me.

This Concert: Now we know Jim plays tuba too! (And violin!)  Look for him playing in the Holst piece.

What keeps you playing with NSO?
This community orchestra is the right level to challenge my skills and sustain my joy for music!

What other activities do you enjoy?
I assist with maintenance and serve as a trustee of five Quaker properties.
Instruments in the Attic
This NSO Education & Outreach program solicits donations of instruments from our patrons, then refurbish and grant these instruments to students or organizations in need.  We'll be presenting instruments to these recipients for Sunday's concert:

Rachel Tims, junior at Newark High School, received a trumpet presented by Laura Rogers, NSO member and Instruments in the Attic chair.
