Karen Rosenberg is a paleoanthropologist who has lived in Newark and taught in the Anthropology Department at the University of Delaware since 1987. She has been a fan of the Newark Symphony Orchestra (as well as member and past president of the Friends of NSO) since 2001 when her husband, Tom Rocek, joined the Viola Section.
Karen's innate skill to investigate and offer a critical mind will provide great guidance as the Newark Symphony Orchestra redefines and shapes its next 54th season, which is also Maestro Simeone Tartaglione's 10th anniversary as NSO music director.

Due to COVID-19, this year’s auditions for the Betsy L. Kent Youth Concerto Competition will take place via video submissions. Given the current circumstances, hiring an accompanist for video auditions is recommended but not required. Video submissions can be sent via Dropbox, OneDrive, Google drive link, or as an unlisted Youtube link to Mrs. Carolyn Fuhrman at firstname.lastname@example.org before the first of November. In the event of disrupted season programming, the orchestra will not be able to reschedule concerto performances. Honorariums will still be awarded in full to both winners.
