Easter Appeal for Messef

Help from Projekt Barrio Blanco
Dear <<First Name>>,

With your help, we've managed to keep a food delivery going to Messef Orphanage every month, despite problems between Haiti and the Dominican Republic.  The leaders from Messef always meet us at the frontier and  we transfer the supplies over into a hired cart but do not cross at present if tensions are running high.

The funds have lasted well but now we need your help again.  We would love to secure enough funds for the next three months, which is just under US$3,000.

As we are approaching Easter, a time when many like to give to children, we are launching an  Easter Fundraising Appeal on the website and will keep the total updated on the fundraising thermometer.  This money will be used to buy staple foods, not chocolate, although we do have some Easter candy to deliver from Dona.

Please help us to keep the children at Messef fed for the coming months.

BOYS' DORMITORY

Before                                                 After

We love cooperation and this boys' dormitory has certainly been a labour of love between many of you.  The most recent stage, the finishing and installation of windows and doors, was a combined effort by Blue Bell Woods Day Nursery in England, who raised funds for building materials, and Lorenzo, friends and the Romanian churches in Canada, who funded the doors and windows.  Click here to see history of project.

DONA'S VISITS FROM CANADA
Dona, from Ontario, first visited us at the end of 2014 and has just paid us a second visit.  This is another example of wonderful collaboration.  Dona, introduced to Messef by Sandra, brought down medical supplies from Not Just Tourists in December.  Those medicines were shared between Messef and GoMADMinistries' clinic in the Dominican Republic.  When Dona returned, she really wanted to visit Messef but was advised against it by friends who were aware of the situation in Haiti.  We are also reluctant to take visitors at present because we are never sure if we will be able to enter the country safely and we do not want to put any of you at risk.  So, Dona shared the many gifts she brought between Messef and two great causes in the DR:  Projekt Barrio Blanco (in Swedish) run by Annica Jonsson, regular supporters of Messef, and Casas Ninos Felices, an orphanage in Sosua.  We will take the supplies to Messef on the next trip and Linda and Dona visited the two local projects to share these blessings around.
MELISSA RECYCLING TO RAISE FUNDS
