Dear ISL Families,
Welcome back to school. I hope everyone enjoyed their holiday. January 6 was the official launch of the carnival season. There are traditions; such as King Cake or Galette de rois (my preference), that while delicious can become disruptive to our routines. Here are ISL’s
King Cake Rules:
Teachers will contact you if they want to participate in this tradition in their classrooms.
Please no surprise King Cakes. Participation in this tradition MUST be at the request of your child's teacher.
Cakes may only be enjoyed one time per week, such as during Fun Friday
Kristen and Marisa must be notified 24 hours in advance by the homeroom teacher if parents will be dropping off King Cakes.
Please remember that the school does not provide a knife to cut the cake, or napkins and plates, so please make sure that if you are providing the cake you are providing these things too.
Carnival is an important tradition for this region, however we understand that this may not be a tradition in which everyone participates. If you have any questions or concerns about this please do not hesitate to contact your child’s homeroom teacher/ advisor or me.
